Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church Holds An Ecumenical Spiritual Concert

Montreal, Qc- Under the Auspices of His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, a spiritual concert “Praising the Lord, Jesus Christ, An experience of Unity” was held at the Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church on the evening of January 28, 2007.

Held in the occasion of Prayer Week for Christian Unity, His Eminence expressed how wonderful it was to see so many denominations from different traditions gather together under one roof and hoped for continued solidarity in His speech.

“…this week, Christians from all denominations pray together for Unity in the life of their churches. Unity is a gift of God that we should accept and it is a goal that we must strive for.

“We are living in a period of human history in which, poverty, injustice, violence and the degradation of ethical ad spiritual values have invaded the daily lives of our society and communities. People, particularly the young, are looking to the church for answers and guidance. The Christian Church cannot and should not remain indifferent. They must work together for an effective witness and lead humanity to reconciliation, justice and peace.”

Organized by the Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, the concert featured five choir groups, including the choirs of Mar Jacob Syrian Orthodox Church, Eritrean Orthodox Church, Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, Transfiguration of our Lord Roman Catholic Church’s “Beat Attitudes Team” and the Quintet of Armenian Religious Hymns “Arahed”.

After the concert, participants and clergy members attended a reception at the Armenian Prelacy of Canada hall, which was organized by Sourp Hagop Church.
