His Eminence to Join Community in Armenian Genocide Commemoration Tributes

 

His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, will join the Armenian community for the special events dedicated to the 92nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

 

Armenian National Committee of Quebec Commemoration Event

 

Prelate Hagopian will first join the community for the ANCQ’s annual commemoration ceremony at Montreal’s Armenian community centre Aharonian hall on the evening of April 22, 2007.

 

Vigil and Requiem Service

 

Under the Auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hagopian, a candlelight vigil and an inter-religious ceremony with the Armenian Catholic Church and the Armenian Evangelical Church will take place at Sourp Hagop Armenian Cathedral for the 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide on the evening of April 23 at 7pm.

 

The ceremony will be followed by a requiem service by the Prelacy stone-cross (khatchkar) dedicated to the victims of the Genocide located, where remains from victims of the Genocide taken from the Deir Zor desert were put to rest last year when it was erected.

 

Genocide Remembrance Day

 

Prelate Hagopian will gather with the Armenian community for a memorial at the monument dedicated to victims of genocides at Park Marcelin-Wilson in Montreal and afterwards in Ottawa, for the commemorative march in front of Parliament and the annual protest in front of the Turkish embassy.
