Prelacy Holds Annual Armenian Education Seminar for Teachers

 

Under the Auspices of His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate, the Armenian Prelacy of Canada’s Armenian National Education Council held a seminar for Armenian language teachers on June 27, 2007 in Kingston, Ontario.

 

The seminar’s opening statement was delivered by Harout Berberian, a member of the Prelacy’s Armenian National Education Council, who presented the current and future activities of the Council.

 

The first lecture was given by Hasmig Babian (Toronto) and Mher Karakachian (Montreal) on “Teaching Armenian History” with regards to the methods used and topics taught in elementary school and the topics given at the secondary level.

 

The second part of the seminar on “applying teaching methods from other disciplines to Armenian subjects” was presented by Soline Chamlian from Montreal.

 

The seminar’s main objectives are to introduce and discuss teaching methods for Armenian and Armenian History courses and ways to improve them. Teachers and principals from Sourp Hagop’s Sarafian Primary, Pastermadjian High and Saturday schools in Montreal, as well as Toronto’s ARS Babaian Kindergarten and Kololian High school participated in this seminar.
