Fundraiser for Victims of Greece Wildfires Reaches $10,000
Heeding the call from His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, to assist our Greeks brothers and sisters after the devastating wildfires of this summer, $10,000 was raised since the campaign was launched earlier this fall.
Fundraising committee chairperson, Vrisiis Païdoussis and the chairperson of the Helenic congress of Canada, Demetrius Manolakos, met with His Eminence Archbishop Hagopian, Armenian Relief Society’s Canada Executive Regional chairperson, Arminée Karabetian, Prelacy Executive Council treasurer, Arto Kabassakalian, and community member Muegerditch Torossian at the Prelacy to accept the donation on the morning of November 19, 2007.
In a communiqué released in October, His Eminence Archbishop Hagopian requested from the executive and religious councils, as well as the church boards of Prelacy churches across Canada to help raise money for this cause, whereas drives were organized after Divine Liturgy services across Prelacy churches in Canada on October 7, 2007.
