Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Held at Prelacy
Under the Auspices of His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate, the Armenian Prelacy of Canada’s annual tree lighting ceremony was held on the evening of December 13, 2007.
In His greeting and well wishes, His Eminence noted that this ceremony had become a family tradition where each light represented the lights of the spirit of the Armenian people.
This year’s ceremony also included a new addition, the erection of a great manger at the entrance of the Armenian community centre. The nativity scene was a gracious donation from Vahan Der Assadourian and was assembled by members of Homenetmen Gamk Scouting under the leadership of Onnig Kouyoumdjian.
A reception at the Prelacy hall followed the ceremony, which was attended by representatives of Prelacy councils, sister organisations from Montreal and Laval, and from the Republic of Armenia, special guest, Vahram Nercissiantz, Chief Economic Advisor to the President of Armenia since 1998.
