His Eminence Ordains Deacons in Vancouver
Under the Auspices of His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, two members of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church in Vancouver were ordained to the minor order of the clergy on January 27, 2008.
Accompanied by Very Rev. Fr. Housig Mardirossian, Vancouver’s church Pastor, His Eminence ordained Ohan Gureghian as Deacon and Ara Baghamian as Subdeacon, who have been serving St. Gregory the Illuminator Church for many years.
In His sermon, Archbishop Hagopian noted the importance of having such devoted members and emphasized that “it is not the quantity of people within a community that makes it noteworthy, but rather the collective cooperation of its members.”
Following Divine Liturgy, a reception was held in honour of His Eminence at the local community centre’s Lazarian hall, where Very Rev. Fr. Mardirossian extended his gratitude to Archbishop Hagopian for joining them for this special occasion.
Prelate Hagopian in turn congratulated Very Rev. Fr. Mardirossian and the Church Board of Trustees for all the work they have so far accomplished.
