North American Prelacies Conclude Joint Meeting

 

The Prelates of the three North American Armenian Prelacies and their Executive Council chairpersons concluded their two-day meeting in Montreal on the afternoon of July 24, 2008.

 

His Eminence Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of the Eastern United States, as well as His Eminence Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of the Western United States, met with His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada to discuss issues of mutual concern.

 

The Prelates were joined by their respective Executive Council Chairmen, Mr. Jack Mardoian (Eastern Prelacy) and Dr. Garo Agopian (Western Prelacy), and Dr. Jean Arakelian, (Canadian Prelacy). Canadian Prelacy Executive Council members, Dr. Garbis Harboyan, Mr. Simon Poladian, and Mrs. Osana Mksy-Artinian also participated in the meeting.

 

The meeting primarily concentrated on Christian education, youth, new religious publications, preparing new generations of deacons, reorganization and expansion of parishes, Armenian education, the Catholicosate and its Prelacies, inter-Prelacy cooperation, the Ghevontiantz clergy conference, the Armenian Church and divorce, the Armenian Church and homosexuality, inter-church and inter-religion relations; as well as issues related to the upcoming World Assembly meeting in December of this year.

 

Several action plans were prepared and committees set up for the follow-up on these issues.
