50th Anniversary of Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church Celebrated

Under the Auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, a gala banquet in honour of the 50th Anniversary of Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church was held on the evening of October 4, 2008 at the Montreal Armenian Community Centre.

On this special occasion and by the request of Prelate Hagopian and Prelacy Executive Council, His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia, bestowed ‘Prince of Cilicia’ medal to Dr. Vagharch Ehramdjian, ‘Knight of Cilicia’ medals to Mr. Krikor Kouyoumdjian and Mr. Varoujan Seropian, and  ‘Mesrob Mashdots’ medal was awarded to Mr. Vrej-Armen Artinian.

During the celebration, His Eminence Archbishop Hagopian presented Mr. Haig-Aram Arakelian, Mr. Serko Boyadjian, Mr. Bedros Kaprielian, and Mr. Haig Markarian with a honourary ‘Hovhan Mantagouni’ medal for their devotion and commitment to the Armenian church and their community.

Mr. & Mrs. Haig and Anahid Markarian presided over the event, which was organized by Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church Board of Trustees. Looking towards the future, the special commemoration’s message and goal is to surpass past achievements.
