Archbishop Hagopian to Join His Holiness for Official Vatican Visit


His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada will be part of a delegation of clergy members and lay leaders accompanying His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia to the Vatican for an official visit with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, from November 24 to 28, 2008.

The visitation program of His Holiness Aram I will include private and public meetings with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, meetings with Pontifical Councils and departments of the Vatican, lectures at the universities of Rome, public hearings and press conferences.

The visit to the Vatican is the first leg of Archbishop Hagopian's overseas trip. His Eminence will continue on to the Armenian Catholicosate in Antelias, Lebanon, where he will lead Canada's Armenian Prelacy delegation to the World General Assembly of the Catholicosate of Cilicia from December 1 to 5, 2008.

Prelate Hagopian will be back in Montreal to celebrate the golden jubilee and name day of Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church on the weekend of December 13, 2008.
