Prelacy Holds Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Under the Auspices of His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate, the Armenian Prelacy of Canada’s annual tree lighting ceremony was held at the Prelacy on the evening of December 11, 2009.

After the official lighting of the grand Christmas tree adorned with the Prelacy’s official colour, purple, His Eminence wished the attendants a joyous New Year filled with God’s blessings, and announced that His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholicosate, had just declared 2010 the “year of the Armenian woman.”

Archbishop Khajag Hagopian also wished the Armenian Relief Society all the best in their future endeavours, and noted their upcoming 100th anniversary. In spirit of the Holidays, Montreal’s ARS Sosse chapter donated $1,000 to the Armenian Prelacy.

Organized by the Prelacy’s Ladies Guild, the ceremony has become a tradition for the representatives of the Prelacy’s councils and sister organisations to get together for this festive event and enjoy the reception that followed at the Prelacy hall.
