Annual Ghevontiantz Clergy Conference to be Held in Massachusetts

His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate, along with Armenian Prelacy of Canada church pastors, attended the annual Ghevontiantz conference being held at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts from February 8 to 10, 2010.

His Eminence Archbishop Hagopian presided over the meeting with His Eminence, Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy of the United States.

The two-day conference focused primarily on the important role Armenian women play in our community, as His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia, has proclaimed 2010 the year of the Armenian woman.

The Feast of Ghevontiantz (Leondius) is celebrated each year preceding the Vartanantz Feast. The collective name is in honour of brave clergymen who preached and fought against tyranny before, during and after the war of Vartanantz. The Feast has become a time of renewal, reflection, and edification for the clergy.
